The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, originated in ancient China to commemorate the poet Qu Yuan. It is celebrated on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, typically in June. The festival involves dragon boat races, eating zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), and hanging mugwort and calamus to ward off evil spirits.
